Public Lecture "Making the Natural Health Service Work" - 28 April, Stoke-on-Trent (UK)

Following on from the Health from the Outside in: Urban Design, Green Space and Human Health, (PHENOTYPE) Conference, a Public Health Lecture and discussion will take place in Stoke-on-Trent (UK) on the evening of Tuesday 28 April 2015, presented by Dr William Bird, MBE.

Dr William Bird, MBE will deliver his lecture on ‘Making the Natural Health Service Work’. This promises to be a thought-provoking and engaging session around how to make best use of our natural environments and green spaces, to achieve the greatest health benefit.

William is a registered GP with a special interest in the promotion of physical activity. In 1995 he developed Walking for Health and the Green Gym, both national programmes that have got over 1 million people more active. In 2006-2011 he became Strategic Health Advisor to Natural England and developed the Natural Health Service together with the Department of Health. He currently sits on the Physical Activity Programme Board for Public Health England. Now CEO of Intelligent Health, a Health IT Company he founded, William is involved in work to get more people active using Smart card technology and behaviour change. Intelligent Health also developed the award winning Beat the Street, and delivered the NHS London Olympic Legacy by training London GPs about the benefits of physical activity
